Welcome from our Principal

Published August 27, 2017 by

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year. It is a brand new beginning. We start clean. It always reminds me of how God wipes away our sins and lets us start clean daily. Lamentations 3:22b-23 says, “for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

As we begin our new school year, we will be celebrating the 500th year of the Protestant the Reformation ignited by Martin Luther as he sought reforms for the Roman Catholic Church. These reforms were founded upon the clear and authoritative teachings of Holy Scripture. Luther called the church back to the teachings of Christ and the apostles regarding how a person is made right before God; it is by grace alone through faith alone on account of Christ alone so that God alone receives the glory for man’s salvation.

The impact of the Reformation was much more far reaching that just a reforming of church doctrine and practice. The reformers valued the education of all people, so they could read and think for themselves and developed the first public education system in Europe. The education of our youth is just one of the many blessings of the Reformation that continues to benefit us today

Prince of Peace Lutheran School opened our doors in 1956. Many students have been part of this loving, nurturing environment where God’s love is not only proclaimed; it is practiced. This year we will be applying for accreditation from the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This will insure that we continue to be a school of excellence and constantly improving.

The PTAL has met several times so far this year. We are so thankful for the wonderful parents we have who are willing to help make things fun for the kids.

It was approved that the school could purchase an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and first aid supplies for our emergency back packs with last year’s funds.

This year we are going to be raising funds to improve our security by adding fencing.

Plans are being made for the Fall Chili Cook-off. We will be needing lots of volunteers. If you are interested in being in the planning, let me know.

Please check out the PTAL calendar. The next meeting is Sept. 18th at 7 p.m. Come join us!

As we celebrate this historic 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, we reflect on the courage of Martin Luther and give thanks for the opportunity to be strengthened by faith and prepared for life as we proclaim God’s truth and share His love for all people.

The faculty prays daily for students and their families. If you have any prayer requests you want us to include, you can email me.
God bless our children, your family, and Prince of Peace Lutheran School.

In His Service,
Mrs. Smallwood
